With recent injuries to the offensive line the Jaguars have decided to sign Tutan Reyes to a 1-year contract.  Reyes played in 6 games (all starts) for the Buffalo Bills in 2006.  The 6′3″, 310 pound lineman has played in 37 games (34 starts) over his 7-year NFL career.  Look for Reyes to not only make the Jaguars roster but to start some games early in the season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release Tim Couch

The Jaguars have decided to release Tim Couch.  He didn’t get much of a chance with the Jaguars as he only played in 1 game and he completed 2 of 4 passes for 11 yards in the pre-season.  The Jags just seemed to like undrafted rookie Lester Ricard better than Couch at this time.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lose starting center Brad Meester for 8-10 weeks

The Jaguars have lost starting center Brad Meester for the next 8-10 weeks after he cracked a bone in his ankle.  He will undergo surgery to repair it soon.  This will hurt the Jaguars offensive line as Meester has been a dependable and good football player since the day he arrived in Jacksonville.  He started all 16 games last season and he has started 108 games in his 7-year career with the Jaguars.  Dennis Norman will likely replace Meester as the starting center as that could wind up being a tad scary for the Jaguars.  He played in all 16 games with the Jags last season but he only started one of them.  Over Norman’s 6 year NFL career he has only played in 33 games and he’s only started 5 of them.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign Tim Couch to a 2-year contract

The Jaguars have signed quarterback Tim Couch to a 2-year contract but he didn’t get a signing bonus so the only way he gets paid is if he makes the team.  He will likely battle Quinn Gray for the #3 job on the Jags.  Couch has not played in the NFL since the 2003 season with the Cleveland Browns.  He played 5 years with the Browns and he completed 1,025 of 1,714 passes (59.8%) for 11,131 yards with 64 TD passes and 67 INTs.  He also carried the football 123 times for 567 yards (4.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  One thing going in Couch’s favor is that he has never played behind an offensive line like the one the Jaguars have so that should help him out big time.

The Jacksonville Jaguars re-sign DE Bobby McCray

The Jaguars have re-signed restricted free agent DE Bobby McCray to a 1-year contract.  McCray just keeps getting better every season in the NFL so it’s scary to think of what he might be able to do this season.  He played in 15 games last year and he made 35 tackles, had 10 sacks, defensed 2 passes and forced 2 fumbles.  Over McCray’s 3-year NFL career, he has played in 47 games and he’s made 75 tackles, has 19 sacks, defensed 4 passes, forced 6 fumbles and he has recovered 1 fumble.
