Starting strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh will likely undergo season-ending shoulder surgery soon.  His season will end with 3 tackles and a fumble recovery.  He will be replaced by veteran Sammy Knight who is off to a good start to his Jaguars career with 12 tackles already this season.

As was reported here months ago Mike Walker is still having problems with his knee that he had surgery on two seasons ago.  He has been placed on the Injured Reserve List and will miss the entire 2007 season for the Jaguars.  He did play in the pre-season and he caught 4 passes for 33 yards (8.3 avg).  This is a shame for both Walker and the Jaguars as they have one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL.

The Jaguars have traded RB Alvin Pearman to the Seattle Seahawks for an undisclosed draft pick.  Pearman did not have a good pre-season which pretty much ended his time in Jacksonville.  Pearman only gained 68 yards rushing on 24 carries (2.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 5 passes for 27 yards (5.4 avg).  Pearman was beaten out by LeBrandon Tofield who carried the football 38 times for 145 yards (3.8 ypc) with 3 TD runs and he also caught 8 passes for 70 yards (8.8 avg) in the pre-season.  Pearman finishes his career with the Jaguars having played in 29 games.  In those game he carried the football 58 times for 238 yards (4.1 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 34 passes for 252 yards (7.4 avg).  Pearman also returned 11 kickoffs for 243 yards (22.1 avg) and he also returned 81 punts for 693 yards (8.6 avg).

The Jaguars have signed veteran CB Aaron Glenn to a 1-year contract and they have released G Tutan Reyes to make room on the roster for him.  Glenn played in all 16 games last season for the Dallas Cowboys and he made 22 tackles, defensed 7 passes and had 1 interception.  Glenn has now played in 196 NFL games in his career and he has made 616 tackles, has defensed 162 passes, has 40 interceptions (5 returned for TDs), had 1 sack and forced 5 fumbles.  The Jags will likely use Glenn as their nickel back this season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release QB Byron Leftwich

The Jaguars shocked everyone and released Byron Leftwich.  Leftwich probably was the victim of the outstanding pre-seasons that David Garrard and Quinn Gray turned in for the Jags.  Leftwich was only average this pre-season as he completed 19 of 38 passes (50%) for 226 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (77.3 QB Rating).  David Garrard has been named the starting QB for the Jags this season.  He completed 36 of 47 passes (76.6%) for 456 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (113.4 QB Rating).  He also ran the football 5 times for 20 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Quinn Gray completed 20 of 27 (74.1%) passes for 216 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs (121.8 QB Rating).
