Starting strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh will likely undergo season-ending shoulder surgery soon.  His season will end with 3 tackles and a fumble recovery.  He will be replaced by veteran Sammy Knight who is off to a good start to his Jaguars career with 12 tackles already this season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars place WR Mike Walker on IR

As was reported here months ago Mike Walker is still having problems with his knee that he had surgery on two seasons ago.  He has been placed on the Injured Reserve List and will miss the entire 2007 season for the Jaguars.  He did play in the pre-season and he caught 4 passes for 33 yards (8.3 avg).  This is a shame for both Walker and the Jaguars as they have one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release 5 players

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports, General by dawgpounded on Thursday 30 August 2007 at 8:22 am

The Jaguars have released RB D.D. Terry, QB Lester Ricard, RB Derrick Wimbush, S Nick Sorensen and TE Jermaine Wiggins.  D.D. Terry had an excellent pre-season but he was too far down on the depth chart at running back to make the Jaguars roster.  He carried the football 17 times for 82 yards (4.8 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 29 yards.  QB Lester Ricard made a good impression on the Jags’ front office but he was found to be expendable when Quinn Gray returned to health.  Ricard completed 7 of 10 passes for 106 yards (104.6 QB Rating) in the pre-season.  RB Derrick Wimbush also was caught in a numbers game but he only carried the football 3 times for -3 yards in the pre-season.  Jermaine Wiggins only caught 1 pass for 1 yard in the pre-season by he was too far behind Mercedes Lewis and George Wrighster to make the team.  Safety Nick Sorensen has been the Jags’ special teams ace the last couple of seasons but he has been passed up by other players.  He finished the pre-season with 5 tackles.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lose OT Stockar McDougle for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports, General by dawgpounded on Wednesday 15 August 2007 at 9:20 am

The Jaguars have lost offensive tackle Stockar McDougle for the remainder of the season after he tore his ACL in practice Monday Night.  This will hurt the Jags depth along the line as the 6′6″, 340 pound mountain of a man played in 11 games for them last season (0 starts).  The Jags will miss him for his talent and experience as he has played in 81 games (56 starts) in his NFL career.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lose starting center Brad Meester for 8-10 weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Jaguar Headlines, Injury Reports, General by dawgpounded on Wednesday 1 August 2007 at 11:00 am

The Jaguars have lost starting center Brad Meester for the next 8-10 weeks after he cracked a bone in his ankle.  He will undergo surgery to repair it soon.  This will hurt the Jaguars offensive line as Meester has been a dependable and good football player since the day he arrived in Jacksonville.  He started all 16 games last season and he has started 108 games in his 7-year career with the Jaguars.  Dennis Norman will likely replace Meester as the starting center as that could wind up being a tad scary for the Jaguars.  He played in all 16 games with the Jags last season but he only started one of them.  Over Norman’s 6 year NFL career he has only played in 33 games and he’s only started 5 of them.
