The Jacksonville Jaguars sign safety Kevin McCadam

The Jags have signed reserve safety Kevin McCadam.  He played in all 16 games for the Carolina Panthers last season and he made 13 tackles.  McCadam is also a good special teams player and that’s the reason the Jaguars signed him.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign TE Jermaine Wiggins

The Jaguars have signed TE Jermaine Wiggins to a 1-year contract for a million bucks.  He played in all 16 games (3 starts) for the Minnesota Vikings last season and he caught 46 passes for 386 yards (8.4 avg) with 1 TD catch.  The signing of Wiggins speaks volumes about the disappointment that the Jaguars have had with their #1 pick of last season, Mercedes Lewis.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign kicker Tony Yelk

The Jags just signed Yelk to provide insurance in case of an injury to starting kicker Josh Scobee.  Yelk has never kicked in a real game and was one of the final cuts of the Atlanta Falcons last season before the season started.

The Jaguars sign WR/PR Dennis Northcutt to a 5 year contract

The Jags have signed Dennis Northcutt to a 5 year, $17 million dollar contract.  That seems like a lot to pay for a #3 or #4 WR, but he also is a outstanding punt returner.  Northcutt played in 13 games for the Cleveland Browns (6 starts) last season and he caught 22 passes for 228 yards (10.4 avg).  He also carried the ball 3 times for 32 yards (10.7 ypc).  Northcutt’s best contributions are on special teams as he’s an outstanding punt returner.  He returned 28 punts last season for 312 yards (11.1 avg).  If Northcutt gains a little bit of courage and quits dropping so many passes he could be a contributor on the offense, but he’s more likely to be a #3 or #4 WR for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars sign OT Tony Pashos

Tony Pashos had a breakout season for the Ravens last year and the Jaguars were impressed enough to sign him to a 5 year contract and name him their starting right tackle.  He started all 16 games for the Ravens last season and he played really well.  He has played in 38 NFL games and he’s started 23 of them in his career so far.  The 6′6″, 320 pound tackle will make the Jaguars running game even more potent.
